Hi! Thank you for visiting Physician Finance Basics. My name is Mitra Sadhu. I am a practicing physician in Florida interested in spreading awareness of personal finance basics to my peers. I appreciate your support and hope you will find the information here useful.

I focus on the very basics of personal finances here- things that every doc should know.

And I am very aware that most normal people do not get giddy with excitement at the thought of talking finances. That said, it is still up to us to be good custodians of our wealth. And that takes some basic knowledge.

I’ve been through the school of hard knocks, until I found the right resources to learn how to take care of my money. I am hoping, with this endeavor, to pay it forward.

The 5-minute Version Series

As we add to our financial knowhow, it is important to read some books on personal finance. But I know tons of people around me who just do not enjoy this. They find the subject too dry or are too busy to make time for it. This is why I started the 5-minute Version Series.

I’m trying to compile the greatest personal finance books into short, palatable versions. If the premise of the book resonates with you, go ahead and read the whole thing. You will not regret it.

One common thread I’ve found as I’ve read these books is not that they are filled with new and amazing facts. The basics of personal finance are not that many- so there isn’t a whole lot new in each book. But each author spends a considerable amount of time elaborating on the basic message- often, the behavioral aspect of things.

Because people make stupid money mistakes even when they know the facts.

Emotions get the better of them. For this reason alone, it may be worth your time, and the price of the book, to read the entire book. Even though you may know all the points listed in the concise version, it makes a difference when an author hammers the point home through varied examples over several pages.

And far more eloquently than I am able.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for reading. I will try my darndest to make it worth your time!
